Cecebe Waterways Annual Poker Run
CECEBE WATERWAYS ANNUAL POKER RUN – Saturday, August 16th from 11am to 2pm
The Poker Run began in the summer of 2009, thanks to Mike Kinsey’s vision of bringing cottage neighbours together and creating new friendships around the lake. Now in its 17th year, the event has grown into a much-loved tradition, with over 60 teams participating in most years.
Registration is $10 per poker hand (paid at your first dock) — you can enter as many hands per boat as you’d like, or register under a single team name. Want to go motor-free? Entry is free if you complete the poker run using a non-motorized vessel such as a canoe, kayak, paddleboard, or sailboat. All Cecebe Waterways Association members, along with their family and friends, are welcome to join the fun!
There are 7 designated host docks to choose from. You can visit any 5 docks — or all 7 if you’d like! At each dock, you’ll collect one playing card to build your 5-card poker hand. You can stop at the docks in any order, your goal is to collect a minimum of five cards and turn in your registration form at the final dock you visit. No poker experience is required to participate — it’s all about having fun! The winning hand will be announced at the CWA Family Corn Roast that evening, where the winner will receive their prize.
Registration forms, a lake map, and the list of host docks will be available at all participating docks on the day of the event. A list of the host docks will be available ahead of time (no later than August 6th) at Port Carmen Marina, Magnetawan Home Hardware, and on the Cecebe Waterways Association Facebook page so you can plan your route. Or email/text us directly and we’ll send you a copy.
All proceeds from the Poker Run will go toward supporting the Burk’s Falls Food Bank on behalf of the Cecebe Waterways Association.
Big thanks the Magnetawan Home Hardware for the prizes!
